About Common Leys Cherrys

Common Leys Farm is run by Allie and Doug Cherry who have been working hard to create a very unique guest house, restaurant and self sufficient farm:

"When we arrived at Common Leys Farm, the house hadn't really been lived in for some time and the barns were being used as stables.

After a lot of redecorating and tidying, we initially started a bed and breakfast business in the farm house with just two rooms and then added two self-catering lodges which were created within the stable buildings.

Due to demand, we quickly increased the self-catering accommodation by another two lodges and started doing cream teas / sandwiches and light bites in the afternoon. Before we knew it we found that we were also running a restaurant, and catering for 150+ weddings using a marquee in the grounds....

All the while the Restaurant and Accommodation businesses were taking off, the farm was also expanding. Ducks, Chickens, Sheep, Pigs, Alpacas and even the odd Wallaby were now inhabiting the fields and taking a good deal of looking after, always with the ultimate aim of being as self-sufficient as possible.

When we're not cooking for guests, we're always busy making use of our home grown produce to make a variety of tasty offering, such as pies and conserves, for sale in our farm shop and also in the local farmers markets."

The main strength of the business has always been the friendly welcome and the ability to be flexible to guests' needs to provide the best service as possible.

Whether you are after privacy or a fun, relaxed stay, Common Leys offers far more than just a bed for the night. Allie Cherry is a captivating hostess, renowned for whipping up a gourmet storm in the kitchen. She also has an abundance of spell binding stories about the house and it's history that will leave you begging for more.
